Show Notes for Podcast Episode 62

Hello! I've just uploaded a new podcast episode on YouTube! Life has been very, very busy, so yes, it’s been a while! But … I have 4 finished objects, 3 WiPs and 2 incomings to share with you in this yarn filled episode!

I'm a crochet designer, so to keep up to date with all my news, get my 25 Crochet Tips pdf AND receive my biggest discount codes, you'll want to subscribe to my mailing list:  https://martamitchelldesigns.com/pages/about-me

If you have any questions or would like more info on anything I mention in this episode, send me an email:  crochet@martamitchelldesigns.com

There has been some super useful content released on my blog recently (if I do say so myself!) - go take a look for yourself:  https://martamitchelldesigns.blogspot.com

The knitted jumper I’m wearing throughout this episode is the Mary Rebecca Cardigan by Ellen Mason Designs. It worked up beautifully and I totally recommend this knitting pattern. Find Ellen’s pattern on Ravelry here:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mary-rebecca

I’ve made a baby and a mummy alpaca following Lucy Collin’s Alpaca Family crochet pattern. I found this in a crochet magazine but it’s available on Ravelry here:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/alpaca-family-amigurumi  and on Etsy here:  https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/644574787/alpaca-family-amigurumi-pattern-pdf?ref=shop_home_active_20&sts=1&logging_key=ac90ad9b79d06610f0e74019da0e77eb1e1eb6dc%3A644574787

My crochet pattern test (above) was for Pauline of Making Polly - the Love Diorama. This was such a fun project, thoroughly recommend it!! Find the pattern on Ravelry here:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/love-diorama  and Etsy here:  https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1860098620/crochet-pattern-love-diorama-uk-us?ref=shop_home_active_2&logging_key=12ec38f3b46ae858f32845451c330019e09ca479%3A1860098620

I’m working away on the Tresoro sweater by Isabell Kraemer and I’m using gorgeous non-superwash merino from Crafternoon Treats for this project. Pattern on Ravelry here:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tresoro

My pattern test knit (below) is the Peacock Shawl for Calum, CS Knits. It’s going really well now that I’ve mastered German short rows, go me! My yarn is a mix of different DK weight merino, including quite a few from Jenny Watson. Find Calum’s project page on Ravelry here:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/peacock-shawl-11  and on Instagram:  @csknits

This year’s Shetland Wool Week design really excites me! It’s such a change from some of the previous year’s patterns, I love it! I’m using mostly Jamieson’s Shetland wool 2ply, jumper weight to knit mine up. You can find the pattern on the Shetland Wool Week website and it’s available in paper copy format in many local yarn shops in Scotland.  https://www.shetlandwoolweek.com/knitting-pattern

The wee pouch I showed off is from Kalok Shek Ellen, purchased for me at The Scottish Wool Producers’ Showcase. Find lots of fab project bags plus hand dyed yarn on the website here:  https://www.kalokshekellen.com

I was super excited to open up the 52 Weeks of Scraps book by Laine Publishing. Can’t wait to get stuck into a project or two!! Find the book on the Laine website here:  https://lainepublishing.com/en-gb/products/52-weeks-of-scrap-yarn-projects-for-crafters

If I've missed anything or you'd like more info, please do give me a shout (leave a comment or contact me via the email address above)!

Until the next episode, happy crocheting,

Marta xx

Show Notes for Crochet Podcast Episode 61

Hello! Marta here! I know, I know it’s been AGES, but I’m back podcasting with a bumper bundle of crochet and knitting projects to share with you. You can find the episode on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/7hHOxEj099w

The knitted jumper I’m wearing is my recently finished Little Bousta Yoke by Gudrun Johnston. I knitted it in Shetland jumper weight wool from various sources, some from old cones, some Jamieson's which I purchased in The Woolly Brew, Pittenweem. Find the pattern on Ravelry here:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/little-bousta-yoke

The teether thingy which is fresh off the hook will become my next pattern release. It was crocheted in Stylecraft Cotton + Bamboo (I knew I’d find the name once I started searching!). I thoroughly recommend this yarn for baby items and amigurumi projects, it feels beautiful.

The crocheted socks I’ve (almost) finished were made following my own pattern, Lazy Days Socks. I used a subtly variegated yarn from West Green Loft Yarns. You can find my sock pattern here:  https://martamitchelldesigns.com/products/lazy-days-socks

And the knitted socks I’ve just finished were made following Stephen West’s Pierre Socks pattern, which I’d thoroughly recommend! The yarn for these was Lang Yarns SOXX which I know my sister purchased at The Woolly Brew, Pittenweem. Ravelry link for the Pierre Sock pattern:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/pierre-socks

The cowl which I forgot to show off properly will be my March pattern launch, coinciding with The Scottish Wool Producers Showcase on the 22nd March. Find out more about the yarn and this fabulous event on the website:  https://thescottishyarnfestival.com/

The Christmas Eve Box was from Rachael at Sew Ray Me: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/SewRayMeUK

Future plans! Next up I plan to cast on the Tresoro sweater by Isabell Kraemer and I have gorgeous non-superwash merino from Crafternoon Treats set aside for this project. I hope to return to more regular podcasting too - I’ll aim for once a month initially, see how I get on from there.

If I've missed anything or you'd like more info, please do give me a shout!

Until the next time, happy crocheting,

Marta xx

Show Notes: Podcast Episode 57: My Musings on the Stephen West #SSAL24

Podcast Episode 57: Show Notes:

Hello! I have a new short and sweet podcast episode uploaded to YouTube! Sorry if I talk a little too fast, I had been out for lunch with my mum, my youngest and my niece and had had a strong cup of coffee!

Color Popportunity Socks Review: My #SSAL2024 Experience:

I've finished knitting the Color Popportunity Socks by Stephen West, the #SSAL2024. I both loved and hated these socks at different stages of the journey! The leg was my favourite part, the texture is so unique. Find the pattern on Ravelry here.

I bought my kit with yarn from Twisted Ambitions Yarn on the Stephen & Penelope website.

Colourful beginnings: The Printer Ink Scarf in Sealy MacWheely minis:

A newly started project in this episode is a Printer Ink Scarf which I’m working up in gorgeous minis from Sealy MacWheely! I could not think where Katie’s shop was situated as I was talking - it is in fact Kirkintilloch! Here’s the link to the online shop where you’ll find the details of the bricks & mortar shop too!

From Cone to Sweater: My Little Bousta Yoke Journey:

The knitted jumper I’m working on is the Little Bousta Yoke by Gudrun Johnston. I'm using Shetland jumper weight wool from various sources, some from old cones, some Jamieson's which I purchased in The Woolly Brew, Pittenweem. Find the pattern on Ravelry here.

Tay Beanie: Coming Soon!:

The new crocheted beanie which I've designed is currently with my tech editor and my team of lovely testers. I’ve called it the Tay Beanie, and it’s crocheted in The Scottish Yarn Festival's Clan DK in the colourway Sinclair. Find the yarn and all the info on the festival on September 7th on their website. Next week I'll be sharing a yarn review of the Clan DK so keep your eye out for that if you're interested in this yarn!

Finally:

If I've missed anything or you'd like more info, please do give me a shout!

Until the next episode, happy crocheting,

Marta xx
